Geraldine "Geri" FranklinAfter the tears have dried and the goodbyes have been said, all we have to hold onto are the happy memories that we’ve shared with our loved ones who have passed, this is what keeps them alive in our hearts and in our minds, and they will continue to live on, through us. December News

I hope everyone made it through the stresses of Thanksgiving and Christmas this last month. We are headed into some cold weather all over Texas so I hope everyone stays warm and in good health and company this winter.

As we wrap up the year, I wanted to tell everyone a BIG THANK YOU for all the enjoyment and support that you have given TOTFA throughout 2017. We had a wonderful convention and fiddle contest in Glen Rose in November. We elected two new directors, Mr. Luke Masters and Mr. Clayton Bankston. Both are upstanding gentleman who are great musicians and have a passion and love for some good music and old time fiddlin’. If you see them around, please give them a warm welcome.

At the annual convention, we also voted on Favorite Fiddler, Favorite Accompanist, and Favorite Associate (non-musician member). These three awards are voted upon by the TOTFA membership. We also give out an award for Most Improved Fiddler. This is an award that is decided on by the Board of Directors. It goes to the fiddler who has grown the most over the last year and showed steady and a variety of improvement.

This year’s winners are as follows: Most Improved Fiddler: Nathan Pedneault, Favorite Fiddler: Elijah Stone, Favorite Accompanist: Ted Williams, Favorite Associate: John Caballero. Congratulations to all of you!

At the convention, we held a Silent Auction and sold the remainder of the TOTFA T-Shirts from a couple years back, and also held a raffle for a TOTFA Yeti Cooler. This generated some extra funds for the organization. Thank you to all who supported us at the contest. We have a couple months off before we have a contest again. The next contest on the TOTFA schedule is the Llano Fiddle Fest. I have included the information sent in by John Caballero.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!!!!
